If you are hesitant to begin treatment, continue reading to learn some things you should know before you make your decision.
What Makes Invisalign® So Popular
Appearance and convenience are two of the main reasons why Invisalign® is so popular among our patients. You are able to continue with your daily life and, unless someone is staring closely at your mouth, they might miss the fact that you are straightening your teeth. It is also extremely convenient to be able to remove the aligners and clean your teeth the way you always have. We want to share some important information that might help you decide if Invisalign® is the orthodontic treatment for you.
Preview Treatment Plan
One of the biggest perks of Invisalign® is the digital system that is used to create your new smile. With modern imaging technology, you are able to view the progression of your smile digitally prior to starting treatment. This also gives patients an idea about the length of treatment and how many trays will be needed. Once treatment has started, patients typically begin to see noticeable improvement in their smile within the first two to three months.
Adjustment Period
As with traditional braces, there is an adjustment period when starting treatment. You might notice a lisp while you are getting used to wearing the trays. There may also be slight discomfort when starting a new set of trays as the teeth begin to shift into the new placement. As with any treatment, the discomfort will vary with each patient. There will also be an adjustment with the way that you eat and drink. It is important to note that the aligner trays need to be worn for approximately 22 hours per day, which means that food and drink will need to be consumed in a timely fashion to follow those guidelines. Unfortunately, that tends to eliminate activities such as lingering over a cup of coffee each morning.
