The Road to Whiter Teeth: Different Solutions and Different Delivery
Although there are several different solutions available to whiten teeth, they can be found in three types of systems: those available over the counter from the pharmacy, and either “take-home” or “in-office” systems available through your dentist.
The three systems differ primarily in the amount of hydrogen peroxide they contain. That strength can be only 3% for over-the-counter solutions, but as high as 37.5% for solutions available only through a dentist. Products with the highest percentage of active ingredients will require less time to achieve the whitening desired, and must be applied by your dentist to ensure they are applied safely and that your teeth and gums are protected during the process.
We Use the POLA Tooth Whitening System
We are happy with the results our patients have seen using the POLA Tooth Whitening System. With POLA we can offer you either a “take-home” or “in-office” system. There are two major differences between these systems. The “take-home” system has a lower amount of the active ingredient that whitens your teeth and will take up to 14 days to show results. The “in-office” system has a considerably higher amount of the active ingredient and must be applied in our office so we can ensure it is safely applied. The “in-office” system produces results “immediately” and you will leave the office with much whiter, brighter teeth.
