Patient #1

  • THEN: Tooth decay had this patient in-pain and self-conscious. Crowns were an initial option that she declined, but without the protection of crowns, her teeth began to fracture.
  • NOW: She has a smile that is both beautiful AND strong, using a customized variety of restorative dental procedures. And did you notice how natural it looks?

Patient #2

  • THEN: This patient lacked confidence in her smile, as it wasn’t straight and didn’t match her pretty face. We considered clear aligners, but the patient was concerned about the length of time until she saw results.
  • NOW: Damon braces had her smile straightened in ONE YEAR! After expanding her arches, you can see all her teeth perfectly, and combined with some bonding on her front teeth, this patient finally has the smile she always wanted.

Patient #3

  • THEN: This patient attended the same dentist for years, and only took the bare minimum precautions to protect his teeth. Old fillings chipped away and broke down.
  • NOW: Before anything else, we treated the decay and restored his fillings, as health is our first priority. Afterwards, we moved on to replacing his cracked crowns. Lastly, it was time to give him a smile to smile about! He wasn’t interested in the almost too-perfect white veneers – he wanted something that looked completely organic. He was pleased, so we were too.

Patient #4

This patient was not happy with the appearance of her chipped front teeth and felt that they made her look older. She desired a conservative and long lasting solution for her smile.  We minimally prepared her 4 front teeth and on the day of insert did some additive bonding to her eye teeth to give them a rounder more feminine look.

She loves here smile makeover!

Patient #5

Patient had previous orthodontic treatment, and retainers were used to maintain alignment, however, the upper retainer broke and upper teeth shifted out of place. In addition, the patient lost an upper front tooth causing the other teeth to shift even more. Embarrassed about her smile, the patient came to our practice because we could address all her dentistry issues.

We started with the foundation of her oral health, performing gum treatment and restoring cavities. The next step involved orthodontics on her upper arch to properly align the teeth, which took about 3 months. Since there was not enough room to place implants to replace the missing upper teeth, we added a natural looking porcelain crown and bridge work.

The results gave the patient a boost to her confidence. She can’t stop smiling now!

Patient #6

Our retired patient could not chew because she had lost all of her back teeth. As a result, her front teeth were spreading out and chipping as she was forced to use them to do all the chewing. She was not happy with the function or the appearance of her teeth.

Rather than a removable prosthetic, the patient wanted something as close to natural teeth as possible. Implants were the right option for her dental needs.  First, we improved the foundation of her oral health with gum treatment and removal of teeth that could not be saved.

Next, we moved to orthodontics to close the spaces and get the teeth into better alignment. Then we placed the implants and finalized the restoration with porcelain crowns over the implants. The patient loves her smile and is thrilled that she can eat whatever she wants without embarrassment!

Patient #7

  • THEN: Genetics left this patient with a peg, and without a lateral incisor. By peg, we mean the small, misshapen upper front tooth! Previously, she had orthodontics, but since she stopped wearing her retainer, her teeth shifted back to their previous positions and when she did try and wear her retainer again, it no longer fit. This patient wanted to smile again.
  • NOW: With her grandmother’s help, this patient was able to receive the treatment she had been longing for! Her teeth were restored to their proper positions and the misshapen tooth was removed. Temporary bridges were placed during the healing process, to be replaced with porcelain bridges when the time came! Finally, the patient’s inner beauty is reflected in her lovely smile.

Patient #8

  • THEN: This patient spent her whole life self-conscious about her crowded teeth, as she had a small mouth that looked as if it couldn’t fit them all. Besides the aesthetic factor, crowded teeth are also difficult to clean, and the years took a toll on them – she would lose her lower front teeth if she didn’t take action. Plus, wasn’t she too old for orthodontic work?
  • NOW: She was NOT too old to re-align her smile! Especially since we’ve been educated on gradual expansion treatment plans for adults, we recommended she start with 2-Phase Orthodontics. Phase 1 expanded her top and bottom jaws to make room for her teeth and open her airway, and Phase 2 used clear aligners to shift her teeth into a natural, broad and gorgeous smile. Afterwards, we replaced some of her back teeth! Not only can this patient smile knowing she looks stunning, she can also eat all of the foods she had been missing – corn on the cob and high-quality steak, here she comes!

Patient #9

  • THEN: This patient’s misaligned smile embarrassed her so much, it made her shy. Her teeth were crowded, but on top of that, one of her front teeth was stuck on the palate behind her other two top teeth. The thought of extraction loomed in her brain. Most orthodontists would extract 2 teeth on both the upper and lower jaws.
  • NOW: Here at Smiles by Holsinger and Higgins, we believe that the healthiest option is to restore what Mother Nature intended by expanding the jaw to make room, instead of immediately resorting to removing these perfectly healthy teeth. We recommended 2-Phase Orthodontics for her, starting with the expansion and following it with Damon braces for a year. Now, this patient is no longer shy with her smile – she graces everyone she meets with it!
