At Smiles By Holsinger & Higgins we treat our patients like family. In addition to educational events like our twice-yearly Sedation Open House programs, we also host a couple fun, social events such as our Patient Appreciation Day picnic and Christmas Open House. To give back to our community we host the White-A-Thon to support Habitat for Humanity and a Halloween Candy trade-in event. We hope that you, and your family and friends can join us at an upcoming gathering.
Sedation Open House
Held in the spring and fall, our free Sedation Open House events are designed for people who are considering sedation services. Participants have an opportunity to meet our doctors and staff, as well as actual patients. They’ll learn more about the variety of sedation dentistry treatment options – all in a comfortable, no pressure setting. All participants receive a certificate for a complimentary new patient exam plus xrays.
Patient Appreciation Picnic
On the first Friday in May, we host a festive, themed picnic just to say thanks to our patients.
We hold it here at the office, rain or shine. There is comfortable table seating under the tents. The DJ keeps the music light-hearted and the doctors and staff serve up great food with cakes and ice cream and much more! The door prizes are always fun too. Our patients, their friends and families are all welcome to attend – it’s been a tradition since 1993. Come and join the fun.
Habitat for Humanity White-A-Thon
Each spring we host a tooth-whitening event to raise money to support our local Habitat for Humanity chapter. Our doctors and staff donate their time and Patterson Dental Supply Company donates all dental whitening materials. Participants receive their custom whitening trays for less than half the normal cost with 100 percent their donation going to Habitat for Humanity.
Holiday Open House
We like to end the year with a traditional Holiday Open House. All are welcome. This elegant, festive affair held here at the office. The food is a wonderful assortment of holiday treats and heavy hors d’oeuves. Everything is made lovingly from scratch and set out in a gloriously festive fashion. Door prizes are a diverse collection of lovely handmade items from craft shows near and far.
Community leaders congratulated Drs. Holsinger and Higgins on marking the 15th anniversary of the White-A-Thon, the practice’s fundraiser that benefits Caroline County Habitat for Humanity. From left, are Tara Lightner, Denton Council woman, Bill Clemens, executive director at Caroline County Habitat for Humanity, Patricia E. Higgins, D.D.S., Rowland S. Holsinger, D.D.S., and Ann Jacobs, executive director for Caroline County Chamber of Commerce. Since its inception the White-A-Thon has raised $68,804 for Caroline County Habitat for Humanity, surpassing the benchmark to fund construction materials, appliances and building fees and permits for building an entire house. On November 5, 2014, Caroline Habitat celebrated that occasion with the dedication of the “Smiles” House at 502 High Street, now the home of the Veale family.
